    In the conservative 1950s the film “Die Sünderin” (The Sinner) caused a scandal because the main actress Hildegard Knef was seen nude in a very short scene. The film became a box-office hit and after several attempts to censor the film, in 1954 the German Federal Administrative court ruled that the film was protected under constitutional law and could be shown uncensored.
